Imagine, if you will....
  • All of a sudden your CD drive does not work anymore.

  • A hacker opens your Textpad and asks you "Don't you hate knowing that I can see everything you do on this computer?" . Mortified, you watch him opening files on your computer.

  • Your computer won't turn off. Someone on the internet now has your passwords for AOL, for Amazon, and, subsequently, all your creditcard info.
  • Your computer runs like molasses. You bluescreen at least four times an hour.

  • You don't know it, but your computer attacked the White House in a DOS attack (Denial of Service) last year, most definitely without your consent.
  • Your homepage in IE or Netscape was changed to www.BeastlyPorn, you have Beastly Porn in your favorites folder, your search engine was www.Excite.com but now is - you guessed it- www.BeastlyPorn, and your browser keeps on opening by itself and going there. You keep on changing it back, and it keeps on coming back. Running your antivirus program does not help.

  • Norton Antivirus reports that the server that you intend to be your main source of income hosting websites, has a virus on it that Norton cannot remove. You format the drive and start again- and all of a sudden your websites are defaced. You don't know what to do and suspect you have been hacked.
